Glad Spurs have got their business done. Means we can sit back and watch everyone else scramble about today, instead of hoping Daniel Levy pulls another Rafael van der Vaart out of the hat.

Despite Erik ten Hag's comments earlier, I am told Jadon Sancho's situation is regarded as 'ongoing'.

Manchester United have been looking to do a deal for the England wide-man all summer.

It appears Sancho's future will not be resolved until much later this evening - and we could be in the dreaded deal sheet scenario, where clubs are given additional time to complete transfers if an intention to do so has been lodged with the relevant association.

  4. Reinier heads to Granadapublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 30 August

    16:20 BST 30 August

One small piece of business coming out of Real Madrid. Brazilian attacking midfielder Reinier has left the Bernabeu for season-long loan with Granada.

The 22-year-old had reportedly interested a number of Championship clubs and been strong linked with a move to Norwich City but will remain in La Liga.

Reiner joined Real from Flamengo in June 2026 for £25m but has since had loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Girona and Frosinone.

  5. What time does the window close?published at 16:14 British Summer Time 30 August

    16:14 BST 30 August

The transfer window will close at 23:00 BST on Friday for the Premier League, English Football League and in Scotland.

Across Europe, the Bundesliga window will close at 19:00, Ligue 1 22:00 and in Serie A and La Liga it is 23:00 BST.

The Women's Super League transfer window remains open until 23:00 BST on 13 September.

Stoke are one of several Championship clubs who want to take Leicester striker Tom Cannon on loan for the season.

The 21-year-old will be allowed to leave the King Power Stadium by boss Steve Cooper, despite an ankle injury to Patson Daka which will keep the forward out for another two months.

Cannon scored three goals in 16 appearances, although just five starts, since joining from Everton last year.

It is otherwise expected to be a quiet day at Leicester with the Foxes happy with their business.

They brought in attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss from Genk for around £21m on Thursday and the 20-year-old could make his debut against Aston Villa on Saturday.

He offers the creative spark at the top end Steve Cooper had been looking for since replacing Enzo Maresca in July.

If something presents itself the Foxes are ready to move but, as it stands, incomings are unlikely.

Paul: This window is first time I’ve truly questioned judgement of Arteta and Edu. Made some good signings but let Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira leave yet seem be doing nothing in forward positions. We are now relying on Kai Havertz, injury-prone Gabriel Jesus and out-of-form Garbiel Martinelli.

  9. USA wait to announce Pochettino nearing an end?published at 15:56 British Summer Time 30 August

    15:56 BST 30 August

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

It is not a deadline day deal as such but US Soccer are still to confirm who will be in charge for next month's friendlies with Canada and New Zealand.

It is an open secret Mauricio Pochettino is getting the job but until it is official, there is time for it to go wrong.

The actual squad announcement is on Sunday, which is pretty late given the players will meet up on Monday or Tuesday and there has been rumours of a Monday press conference.

Nothing has been confirmed yet though. When (or if) it happens, it will be one of the biggest appointments in US soccer history.

"We have a couple of conversations going on that's all I can say."

"With the intensity of the Premier League and two domestic cup competitions [extra games] does add a little more to domestic teams but we'll be well equipped, we’re pleased with the squad and we’re ready to go."

    15:37 BST 30 August

Ipswich v Fulham (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Ipswich Town

Kieran McKenna on Ipswich's window as a whole: "We've done some really good business, we knew it was a big, big window for us - it always is for a newly promoted team. For a team coming from our position with the trajectory we've had as a football club. Everyone was of the same mindset that it was really important to strengthen as much as we could."

"It's been a really challenging window and I think we've got into a good position, not everything goes your way but everyone has worked really hard to give us a squad that gives us a chance to be competitive this year."

Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has joined Strasbourg on loan. The shot stopper, 24, joined the Blues in 2023 on a seven-year deal.

The Serbia international made his Premier League debut for Chelsea last December, coming on as a replacement for the injured Robert Sanchez against Everton.

  16. Chelsea remain in talks to sign both Osimhen and Sanchopublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 30 August

    15:25 BST 30 August

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Chelsea remain in talks to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

Both deals are complicated as both players are on big contracts at their current clubs and will want to keep their earnings at a similar level as Chelsea look to implement a wage structure.

There is also rival interest from Al Ahli in Osimhen, as they have a broad agreement in place to sign the Nigeria international for around £60million, and Juventus are keen to take Sancho on loan.

It is understood both players prioritise a move to Stamford Bridge.

However, it is unclear whether Chelsea could sign both players as they currently boast a huge number of options in attack, including Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Marc Guiu, Pedro Neto, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer and Joao Felix.

  17. Team news - Cash and Carlos outpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 30 August

    15:22 BST 30 August

Leicester v Aston Villa (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Aston Villa

Unai Emery has confirmed that the side will be without Matty Cash and Diego Carlos for Saturday’s trip to Leicester City.

Right-back Cash was forced off last weekend and has been ruled out for three to four weeks.

On what Ollie Watkins needs to be able to complete 90 minutes: "Time, because the players who were playing until the last moment in competitions with their national teams had less holidays than others.

"Especially for him, he was coming here with a small injury, he was not really 100% when he started training with us.

"He needed one week more resting time than other players after his comeback.

"Now, after playing two matches, I think he’s going to feel better and better, and comfortable as well remembering how we want to get his best performances helping us."

  18. Emery 'very happy' with transfer businesspublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 30 August

    15:17 BST 30 August

Leicester v Aston Villa (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery on the club's transfer window: "Yes very happy [with transfer business].

"We did the things we were planning at the beginning. The squad we have now with some very importantplayer like Mings, Cameron, Emi Buendia, they are coming back progressively.

"They are gettingbetter and feeling better.

"The players we have added thisyear into the squad I am very happy."

  19. 'Maybe it is a mistake' - Guardiola on not replacing Alvarezpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 30 August

West Ham v Man City (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Manchester City

Transfer Deadline Day LIVE: Toney, Sterling, Osimhen, Sancho latest news, deals & updates (7)Image source, Getty Images

Guardiola said: "I am happy with the squad. Of course, if we have many injuries it could be a problem. But hopefully in two, three months, we will have Oscar [Bobb] back. And we can have Phil [Foden] in that position, [James] McAtee can play in that position, [Ilkay] Gundogan can play in that position...these are different types of players to Erling [Haaland], of course.

"Maybe it is a mistake, I don't know, but I like to work with not a long, long squad. I don't like to leave a lot of players without playing for a long time. If we have a long squad with no injuries, that could be 10 months without playing and I don't like it."

On whether he could have rushed through signing an Alvarez replacement, he added: "When you are not sure [about a player] it is better to wait. In winter we have another chance, so if I am not convinced then it is better not to take that step."

  20. Emery news conference coming up...published at 15:11 British Summer Time 30 August

    15:11 BST 30 August

All of the latest from Aston Villa boss Unai Emery's news conference is coming up shortly.

First, an interesting final line from Pep Guardiola, who was asked if not signing a replacement for Julian Alvarez - following his departure to Atletico Madrid - could prove to be a mistake.
